Lyric Theatre
Updated 05/28/2023
Lyric Theatre - The Lyric Theatre was a small, wooden structure located adjacent to the George W. Hubler Shoe Company factory on Bear Creek Street. The theater showed silent movies in the 1920s which included music accompaniment, sometimes by record player (Victrola) and sometimes by piano. The theatre was later converted into private residence which in turn was destroyed by fire many years later.
The Lyric Theatre was a "ramshackle wooden building with hard wooden seats. The music accompanying the silent movies of those days was provided by records on a Victrola. The selection was limited and repeated many times during one show." - Marie E. Straley |
