"Early Auburn in Pictures" - This fascinating DVD is filled with numerous photographs or pictures of historical figures, businesses and memorabilia which directly pertain to the unique history of the Auburn area. Many of these pictures are the only known copy in existence and provide a glimpse into Auburn's past which can only be provided here. "Fort Dietrich Snyder: Fact or Folklore" - This audio-narrated DVD has dozens of pictures accompanied by narration provided by Auburn-area resident Sarah Bretzius. "Fort Dietrich Snyder" was reputed to have been a fortified settler's log cabin located on top of the Blue Mountains which had allegedly been used as a watch post for enemy activity during the French and Indian War. The fort's location is shown on the historic map of Pennsylvania. The fort's existence is mentioned in numerous books to include actual history books. Two highly reputable county historical societies collaborated to erect a large stone monument on site commemorating the fort's existence. The only problem is - the structure never existed during the French and Indian War. A.A.H.S. Chairperson Todd Graybill presents the viewer first with the "proof" cited for its existence then methodically explains, with facts and pictures, why the fort was nothing more than non-factual folklore that eventually became accepted as historic fact. NOTE: Due to technical difficulties during the recording process, this DVD should only be purchased if the consumer has a very good sound projection system on their computer or television as the narration is somewhat muted.
