Fort Dietrich Snyder is reputed to have been a fortified settler's cabin which had been utilized during the French and Indian War as a watch post for enemy activity. The fort is depicted on the "historical map" of Pennsylvania. The fort is mentioned in various books to include "history" books. A list of personnel affiliated with the fort is available. Two reputable historical societies cooperated to erect a large stone monument commemorating the fort. The only problem is...the structure never existed during the French and Indian War. In this booklet, Auburn Area Historical Society Chairperson Todd Graybill first cites all of the "proof" for its existence, then provides well-documented details which refute each piece of "evidence" to reach a definitive conclusion that "Fort Dietrich Snyder" never existed. Filled with facts and dozens of pictures, this booklet can be purchased for $25.00. Limited quantities available.
