The Philippine-American War, also known as the Filipino-American War, the Philippine Insurrection or the Tagalog Insurgency, lasted from February 4, 1899 until July 4, 1902 when President Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt officially declared the war had ended. The United States had refused to acknowledge the Philippines independence and as a result the First Philippine Republic initiated a war against the United States.

Brommer, Romanus - Private; Company B; 16th Infantry; served in the Philippines; served from 01/17/1899 (when he was just 14 years old) until 01/17/1902. Romanus was born on 04/25/1884 in Auburn, Schuylkill County, PA. He was the son of Charles W. Brommer and Catherine Achenbach Brommer. He was a brother of Charles M. Brommer and William H. Brommer. Romanus died on 11/04/1902 at eighteen years of age and was interred within the Auburn Church of God cemetery, Cemetery Road, Auburn, Schuylkill County, PA.

Moyer, William H. - Army Band; 22nd U.S. Infantry; and Army Band; Company A; 28th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry and/or 30th U.S. Infantry; served from 09/26/1900 until 09/25/1903; and then again from 11/13/1903 until 03/1904.
William was born on 10/09/1877 in Auburn, Schuylkill County, PA. He was the son of William Francis Moyer and Mary Ann Reed Moyer. He was a brother of Carrie E. Moyer; Gertrude A. Moyer Roeder; Norman Moyer; and Robert Francis Moyer. William H. Moyer died on 02/25/1918 and was interred within the St. John's Church cemetery, Cemetery Road, Auburn, Schuylkill County, PA. (NOTE: William has a G.A.R. (Civil War veteran) medallion inserted next to his grave marker, but William was born approximately twelve years after that war had ended. He should have a correct medallion for the Philippine-American War inserted to replace the erroneous one.) |
Wildermuth, Harvey Albert - Private; Company H; 28th Regiment, U.S. Infantry Volunteers; served from 07/27/1899 until 05/01/1901. Harvey Albert Wildermuth was born on 12/09/1874 in Auburn, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Charles H. Wildermuth and a currently unidentified mother. He was a brother of Edward Wildermuth, Gertrude R. Wildermuth Hass (Haas - misspelled on her grave marker) and William H. Wildermuth (a veteran of the Spanish-American War). Harvey married Alice Rebecca Baldinger Wildermuth in 1902. They had two children: Charles Adam Wildermuth and Dorcas M. Wildermuth Hasenauer. Harvey died on 09/18/1940 in Auburn and was interred within the Auburn Church of God cemetery, Cemetery Road, Auburn, Schuylkill County, PA.
