On October 25, 1983, the United States and a coalition of Caribbean nations invaded Grenada in an operation code named "Operation Urgent Fury". The invasion was triggered by the execution of the prior leaders and the establishment of a "Revolutionary Military Council. The military effort resulted in a decisive victory within a matter of mere days. An interim government was established and in 1984 democratic elections occurred. The country has remained a democratic nation since that date. No Auburn-area affiliated veterans are known to have participated in this conflict.
