Unconfirmed Cemetery - North of Auburn Beagle Club
(also known as Stein's Hollow Beagle Club)

While the existence of the eight other cemeteries listed within the Auburn area have been confirmed, there possibly exists yet another cemetery of unknown origin that has not been physically verified.  This cemetery is rumored to have been located on the wooded ridge north of the Auburn Beagle Club.  No one claims to have direct knowledge of the cemetery and residents who have hunted the ridge for decades don't recall ever seeing a cemetery in that vicinity.  No known church was ever located near the site; however, it is possible that a small family plot, especially one preceding the existence and availability of any local public cemeteries, could have been situated in that area

The reason this cemetery's possible existence is even mentioned is due to two main factors.  First, over a period spanning several years, two separate and independent sources have stated they believed a small cemetery was once located in that general vicinity.  Secondly, within the thousands of documents and pieces of information gathered pertaining to the Auburn area, an old scrap of paper containing a handwritten notation states "Behind barns at Beagle Club before - S. Hill Church Barn - Church burial ground behind it."  The origin, author or accuracy of this information is unknown.  Since no one has definitively proved or disproved the existence of this cemetery, its existence remains questionable; but it's possible the cemetery has since been overgrown and/or has had the grave markers become lost or eroded to the point of being too obscure to be recognized as such.  Anyone having information pertaining to this possible cemetery is asked to please contact the AAHS with any details they may have.
