Transportation

Transportation in Auburn took many forms over the years. Air transportation, though limited, could include small airplanes and the occasional blimp. Water transportation, although equally limited, could include canal boats, canoes and small boats. However, land transportation is where the most diversity lies. In addition to the standard motorized vehicles (car and trucks of all makes and models), there were horse & buggies, cows (or oxen) and wagons, old steam tractors, motorcycles, and, of course, the railroads. Auburn had three separate railroad stations during its heyday, and these locomotives played an important role in the economic development of the town.
