Auburn has a rich heritage of railroad activity during its development...in fact, Auburn had railroad activity before Auburn was even established as a town. Auburn "owes" its name to a railroad supervisor who suggested the settlement be named "Auburn" after a town in a poem by Oliver Goldsmith. Below you will find buttons for the three railroads which had stations at Auburn, a fourth "proposed" railroad; a fifth button for general railroad information that is relevant to the Auburn area and a sixth button for Auburn-area railroad-related fatalities.
