The geography surrounding the Auburn area consists of Bunker Hill to the north, Sculps Hill (previously called Scollop Hill due to its similarity in shape to the device used in thatching roofs by the same name) to the northeast, the Schuylkill River curling around Auburn to the north and east, and the Blue Ridge Mountains to the south and west of town.  Auburn itself covers approximately 1.7 square miles.
