Education has played an important role in the development of the residents of the Auburn-area. The earliest structured educational classes were conducted in a church over a decade before Auburn was established as a town. Over the next century and a half, the location of the school moved several times as the need for bigger and better buildings became apparent. On December 26, 1983 Auburn's biggest and best school building to date was destroyed by fire. At that point a decision was made to demolish the ruins of the burnt-out structure and incorporate all of the Auburn students into the Blue Mountain schools. This decision brought an end to an approximately one hundred and forty year tradition of schooling in the Auburn area. Attached is a PDF file on the History of Education in Auburn, Pennsylvania.
