History of Law Enforcement in Auburn, Pennsylvania
"Auburn Notes - The Auburn borough council at its meeting on Monday evening last, on the presentation of a petition praying for a policeman, passed an ordinance creating one. Mr. Daniel Bautch was appointed policeman." - Undated and unidentified source.
"AUBURN ATOMS - At a meeting of town council it was decided to erect a lockup on the lot recently purchased by them at the corner of Third and Orchard streets." - Undated and unidentified source.
Editor's Note - The Auburn Borough Council later voted to disband its police department due to financial constraints. Curiously, the crime rate not only failed to worsen, but statistically improved slightly after the police department had been dissolved.
